Strava Declares War on Fake Activities… and That's a Very Good Thing!

Published on Nov. 25, 2025

In the world of connected sports, Strava has become much more than just an activity tracking app. It’s a true social network where every run, every bike ride becomes a moment to share… and sometimes, a field of competition. But a new phenomenon is shaking things up: fake activities or tampered GPX files.

Strava and the Fight Against Fake Activities

No one wants a Strava full of fake performances. Recently, someone “stole” a KOM from Kilian Jornet… while sitting comfortably in their chair, simply by uploading a timestamped GPX file. The result: Strava let it pass, and poor Kilian can still run to try to reclaim it 😄.

100% Honest, 0% Fake

Here, we fully share the ethical standards. We are runners ourselves and categorically refuse cheating. We only reconstruct runs that actually happened and trust our users.

Who hasn’t experienced a watch crashing, a battery dying, or a GPS freezing in the middle of an ultra? It’s frustrating, unfair, sometimes heartbreaking. Some of our users have been able to recreate their Diagonale des Fous, their UTMB, or other achievements their watch failed to record — and relive them on Strava, Relive, or in their personal archives.

Our Commitment

✅ No cheating.
✅ No lying.
✅ Just restoring your authentic achievements.

We want to help keep Strava clean, inspiring, and motivating — a place where performances truly matter. With us, you’re not cheating: you’re simply bringing your real accomplishments back to life.
